What’s inside

0.1 Three sections, NTA pattern

Every section the NTA examiner tests, pitched at Class 10–11 level — no higher math, no surprises. Concepts, worked examples, and exam-style practice throughout.

  Section I

0.1.1 Quantitative Aptitude

13 chapters — number systems, arithmetic, percentages, ratios, P&C, probability, set theory, geometry & mensuration.

 33 questions · Class 10–11 level

  Section II

0.1.2 DI & Logical Reasoning

13 chapters — data interpretation, statements, syllogisms, series, coding, blood relations, directions, arrangements.

 33 questions · DI + LR combined

  Section III

0.1.3 Verbal Ability & RC

10 chapters — vocabulary, grammar, parajumbles, paracompletion, parasummary, reading comprehension.

34 questions · the largest section

 What JIPMAT is not

JIPMAT is not a watered-down IPMAT Indore. It has no higher mathematics (trigonometry, coordinate geometry, matrices, vectors, calculus) and no Quant short-answer (SA) section. Don’t waste runway on Indore-only chapters if Bodh Gaya / Jammu is your target.

Cut-off floors

0.3 Sectional cut-offs you must clear

Each IIM applies its own sectional percentile floor before computing a merit list. Don’t optimise for total score until each section’s floor is locked in.

 IIM Bodh Gaya

Sectional percentile floor: ≥ 30 (category-wise relaxations apply)

Tie-break order: JIPMAT score → VARC → QA → DILR → Class X → Class XII → recent appearance → younger candidate.

 IIM Jammu

Category-wise sectional percentile cut-offs:

General EWS NC-OBC SC ST PwD
50 35 35 30 25 25

Gender diversity factor applied to final merit.

 Eligibility — fast check

Class XII — completed 2023/2024 or appearing 2025

Class X — not before 2021

Gen / EWS / OBC: ≥ 60% in X & XII

SC / ST / PwD: ≥ 55% in X & XII

Prep roadmap

0.4 How to use this book

1 ##### Foundations {.mt-2 .fw-bold} Read each chapter top-to-bottom. JIPMAT is fundamentals-heavy — speed comes from fluency in basics, not exotic shortcuts.

2 ##### Drill {.mt-2 .fw-bold} Move to timed topic exercises. Track accuracy and time-per-question. Aim for 90 sec/Q on QA, 60 sec on VARC vocabulary.

3 ##### Mocks {.mt-2 .fw-bold} Take full-length JIPMAT-pattern mocks twice a week. Maintain a mistake log. Re-solve wrong/skipped within 48 hours.

4 ##### Sprint {.mt-2 .fw-bold} Final week: protect strengths, plug last-mile gaps, simulate 150-min slots. Taper volume in last 3–4 days. Sleep well.

 Time strategy that works

First pass = pick up easy wins. Second pass = moderate questions. Park time-sinks for the end. Guess only when you can eliminate to ≥ 50% — the −1 hits accuracy harder than skips hurt total.
